GENERAL INFORMATION
This historical building in downtown Neenah was built in 1892, with a Simple Richardsonian Romanesque architectural style. It was built separately from other buildings on West Wisconsin Ave. The first business in this building was Gaffney's Cheap Store, seasonable goods. Items sold here included silk and wood from $3 to $16.50, and goat lap robes from $2.75 to $14. Unique to this structure is the large engraved year carved onto the upper front of the building. This feature adds character and charm to West Wisconsin Ave. The only major renovations to this building included the knocking down of a wall inside, painting, and the renovation of the coal room in the basement to make the bullding more functional. No dramatic events of importance or changes occurred to the structure since it was built.
